For comic book fans, a favorite past time is digging through superhero films for inevitable easter eggs and references to our favorite source material. Part of it is just that we like to know our source material intimately, but another part of it is that we like to know that the film makers themselves are just as aware of their source material. For many, these little nods are a form of bona fides for the film makers, a ruler by which we measure if they are truly "worthy" of telling the stories of our favorite heroes. With Zack Snyder at the helm and David Goyer on the screenplay, Man of Steel has no shortage of easter eggs to keep eagle-eyed comic fans glued to the background of every scene. Here are the ones that I caught in my three viewings of the movie. Side Note: For more of this kind of discussion, please check out the SuperTalk Podcast and follow me on Twitter: @SixOkay!
With WB on the phone, and the Superman Returns film production crew wanting to talk to us about some cool fan outreach opportunities, my mind of course went to the design of the site. I wanted to redesign it to feel a bit more serious, or at least a little less amateurish. This History update is a look at some of the concepts that were thrown around during this brief period of confusion.
Things were looking up for BlueTights.net, but we were about to make a leap into a whole new echelon. As with most growth spurts for the site, this all began with yet another site redesign... to make us a little more content-friendly.
Since the early days of 2004, I've been building a Superman-focused community called BlueTights.net. Over the years, the site has seen more success than I ever could have imagined in it's earliest days. Earlier this week, I announced I was closing down BlueTights.net, the most successful community site I've ever run. This is the letter I wrote about why I'd be closing the site down, but I'm not sure that I could ever sum up the happiness and gratitude I feel toward the community itself.
